Stephanie A. Young

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Stephanie A. Young is a life-long Detroiter, educated in Detroit Public Schools, and a graduate of Cass Technical High School and James Madison College, Michigan State University.  Her 20+ years’ of experience in government and community relations uniquely positioned her to help build public awareness and buy-in of the CEC’s mission- to help families access quality public schools and effective, affordable afterschool programming in Detroit.  She oversees administration, programs, initiatives, fundraising, and the strategic plan.

Katie Rae Stolper

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITY

Katie Rae leads strategy and operations for the CEC. She also spearheads CEC’s efforts to provide transparent, actionable information to help families navigate the education system and advocate for the needs of their children. Prior to joining the CEC, Katie Rae worked in consulting, philanthropy, and nonprofits in Detroit, Boston, New York, and Washington DC.  She received her B.A. from Davidson College and MBA from Harvard University.



Matt Mangan

PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Matt leads our afterschool program initiatives and supports our strategy efforts, including Detroit's largest afterschool program, GOAL Line. Matt is a passionate advocate for educational equity and improving the quality of teaching and learning for Detroit schoolchildren. Prior to joining the CEC, Matt has helped raise student achievement in each his following roles: principal coach, school leader, instructional coach, and teacher. He received his B.A. from Eastern Michigan University in English education, History education, and holds an administrator license for the state of Michigan.

Chanay R. Peterson

PROGRAM MANAGER

Chanay Peterson is the Program Manager for the GOAL Line. She oversees day to day operations, transportation, security, and logistics. Prior to joining the GOAL Line team, she served as a Special Projects Manager for the Mayor's Office managing multiple projects and key initiatives for the Chief Operating Officer. She is experienced in events, logistics, and process improvements. Chanay graduated from Michigan State University with her B.A. in human resources and sociology.



Katherine Grow

OPERATIONS COORDINATOR

Katherine develops, improves, and maintains streamlined, integrated office operations. Previously, she worked at a high school in Detroit where she was a teacher, advisor, coach, college team member, post-secondary success advocate, alumni support, and much more. She received her B.A. from the University of California, Santa Cruz and received her M.A. in Educational Studies with a focus in Urban Pedagogy from the University of Michigan.
